Homework
Sept. 6 - 9
Students should get into the habit of reading, as we will continue with Reading Logs this year. Please make sure your child's Reading Letter is signed and brought back to school.
Sept. 12 - 16
Journal on Self due (Tuesday, Sept. 13): 16 sentences -- rough draft (edited) and final draft. Discuss your life, interests, goals, etc.
Quiz on Literary Genres (likely Thursday, Sept. 15) -- please study notes provided in class. Continue to bring a book each day.
Sept. 19 - 23
Reading Logs will begin this week. Students are to read at least 10 pages on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. Please sign your child's reading log each night, as these will be checked on Fridays for a homework grade.

Oct. 10 - 14

Please sign your child's reading log each night, as these will be checked on Fridays for a homework grade. Test on Nouns and Pronouns Friday (notes provided in class on Tuesday). The focus of the test is being able to identify nouns and pronouns in sentences and whether a noun is a common noun on proper noun.
Oct. 17 - 21

Please sign your child's reading log each night, as these will be checked on Fridays for a homework grade. Classwork: Vocabulary Unit 1. Begin Elements of Fiction. Quiz Tuesday, Oct. 25.

No Reading Logs this week. Quiz Tuesday on memorizing 20 of the 30 "Forms of Be" Linking verbs. 10 points extra credit for memorizing all 30 (no partial credit on extra credit).
Nov. 28 - Dec. 2
